PACKING BOXES - Fayetteville NC
Now that you have purchased all of your supplies, you are
probably ready to start packing boxes full of all your belongings. Keep these
helpful tips in mind when you are packing. First off, see if a friend or
neighbor would be willing to watch your children and pets when you are packing
as well as on move day. This will eliminate distractions and keep you focused
on packing.
When you are packing boxes, plan ahead for what you’ll need
the first day at your new home. We recommend packing a separate bag that has
all your toiletries, a change of clothes, toys for the kids, and any other
necessities you may need. Having things organized in this manor will eliminate
you from digging through random boxes as you try to remember where you placed
things.
This leads us to identifying each box. It’s important to
write on each box with a permanent marker labeling where it should go and its
contents. Make sure you keep all your important documents in a safe place
during your move. Social Security cards, passports, birth and marriage
certificates, medical records, credit card and bank records, tax returns…all of
these items should be in a safe place and NOT in the moving truck.
Drain all your power and yard tools before the move so they
won’t leak in the moving truck. This could cause a major disaster if oil or gas
is spilled all over the back of the moving truck and gets on all your other
boxes.
Tie up electrical cords when you are packing
boxes to prevent them from getting tangles with everything in the box. Use a
rubber band or bag tie to secure the cords. Another tip, never wrap lamps
shades in newspaper. The ink will bleed and stain the shade. Instead of
newspaper, carefully wrap the lamp shade in inkless newsprint (packing paper),
a towel, or a large pillowcase.
